Greetings fellow Band Boosters:
Band Camp is now behind us and the show is rapidly taking shape. I know the students had a fun and meaningful experience. I’m sure many new friendships were created during camp. If you haven’t watched any of the practice sessions I encourage you to stop by in the coming weeks and watch our students work in the practice area to perfect this year’s show. Bring a chair and join us under the trees at the edge of the parking lot. Please plan to attend the Covered Dish meeting this Tuesday where you will be treated to a brief preview to this year’s show, some great food, and a chance to meet other band parents.
The past two weeks the students have been at the school for music camp and band camp on a daily basis. Several volunteers have been present to make sure the students had a positive, healthy experience at camp. Thank you to Jennifer Lebechuck, Mary Meyer, Angelia Weeks, Theresa Moore, Julie Reed, Lynda Creech, Carla Brown, Angie Ray, Amy Fausnaught, Tallie Fausnaught, Keith Patrick, Leigh Ann Bowles, Debbie White, Melinda Arnold, Ken Arnold, Deirdre Matteson, Dorothy Walker, Jana Fann, Nancy Franklin, Gary Reed and Lisa McAnally who all helped out doing everything from food preparation work to general clean up. Thanks to everyone who donated food items for band camp! Special thanks to Ann Rossman and Patti Powell for overseeing the food preparation and serving the snacks everyday during camp. Also, special thanks to Terri Cole for preparing delicious meals daily for the instructors and remarkable birthday cakes for Mr. Meers that were enjoyed by all. And very special thanks to Paul and Douglas Shoenfield for grilling out, and twice providing an awesome meal for the students. They filled us all up with burgers, hot dogs and Paul’s famous “Kickin’ Chicken”.
Uniform check out nights went very smoothly thanks to the many, many people that volunteered to help out and staff the different stations. The group did a great job processing each student. I know it is a time consuming process and I appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. It is a necessary process to insure a safe, secure, and satisfying experience for each member of the band. During the process I had the pleasure of meeting many of the new parents and welcome them into the RHS Band Boosters. If I didn’t get to meet you on one of those nights I hope to do so in the very near future. I want all parents to feel welcome and play an active role as an RHS Band Booster.
We have already kicked off our first fundraiser of the year. This is a QSP catalog sales fundraiser. Your student has the opportunity to earn as much as 25% of what they sell in student account credits. This is an excellent opportunity to help support the band boosters and earn student account credits to help offset fees. The QSP catalog offers many quality low-cost items that make for easy sales. This fundraiser will close out on August 11th and we will follow it up with the sweet and delicious Butterbraid sale.
Our first football game this year is on August 21st in Antioch. Our band will perform at half time and play pep music through-out the game. Come out see the show, support the band, and enjoy the football game. Please plan to join us on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the band room for the monthly booster meeting. Go Warriors!
