I am glad to have everyone home from the spring trip to St. Louis!  I have heard that there was a lot of fun had on the trip and that behavior from all the students was very good.  Thanks to all the students for their behavior and to all the chaperones who kept our students safe and sound!

 

For those of you who may have not been to the band room recently, you should really go see all the improvements that have been made.  It is looking amazing!  There are shelves and shelves of trophies and awards to attest to the great history of the Warrior Band, as well as many plaques that have found homes on the walls.  Thanks to everyone who has worked on this ongoing project to make our band room look like the type of room that an award-winning band deserves!

 

Our last booster meeting for the school year will be Tuesday, April 14, at 7 pm in the band room.  Due to the Band Banquet on Monday, May 4, and a New Band Member Orientation meeting on Tuesday, May 12, there will not be a regular booster meeting in May.  The May newsletter/Warrior Notes magazine will wrap up all our end of the year events and contain any last-minute Senior Spotlights that might be submitted to David Creech at dwcreech@pixeltoad.com, or to Mr. Meers.  Please remember that the deadline for those entries is not later than Thursday, May 7.

 

Some items to be discussed at our next meeting will be:

Car Wash— Community Bank, Old Fort Parkway across from the Target shopping center (April 18), Spring Concert (April 28), Band Banquet (May 4), Jazz & Java Fundraiser (May 7), New Band Member Orientation meeting (May 12), Riverdale Graduation (May 16).

 

There will not be a newsletter/magazine or booster meeting in June.  Enjoy the break!  The first newsletter for the 2009-2010 school year will be in July before band camp starts and the first booster meeting will be Tuesday, July 14, at 7 pm in the band room.  Remember to mark your calendar now for this meeting and the band camps.  First Year Marchers and Section Leaders will meet on July 20 and 21, Music Camp will be for everyone starting on July 22 through July 24, and the full Band Camp will be held July 27-31.  Percussion and Guard Camps will also be held during July.  Please make sure and watch the band website and the calendar updates for details.  Times for the camps will also be posted on the website calendar page.

 

In a few days you will be receiving a separate mailing of the 2009-2010 Band Payment Plan.  Please carefully read this entire package of forms.  The first payment of ’09-’10 fees is due on May 12.  Also, any outstanding balances from 2008-2009 must be paid by this time.  If you have any questions concerning your student’s account, please contact Jennifer Lebechuck at 904-0959.

 

Thanks again for everyone’s continued commitment to the band program and our students’ music education.  I appreciate that you trusted me to be your booster president again this year and I wish everyone success with all future endeavors, at Riverdale or beyond.  Good luck and I look forward to seeing you at the booster meeting on Tuesday, April 14!
