Brandon Jones is considered to be one of the most sought-out and finest brass tutors in the country. As a sponsored performing artist, Brandon’s schedule takes him across the globe performing solo recitals, guest soloing concerts with some of the finest ensembles in the country, and teaching clinics and master classes at the high school and university level. Brandon has presented brass clinics at several state conventions as well as being a featured guest artist at several ITEA (International Tuba Euphonium Association) conferences, all at the tender age of 29. He has been labeled as “The next big thing in the brass world…” by his peers, and is characterized by being “well beyond his years” in both his musical expression as a performer and his knowledge of how to teach brass instruments. Previously having a well-established studio in Kentucky where he is from originally, Brandon taught the principal euphonium player in the state of KY at the high school level for 8 straight years, 5 different students, as well as having the principal tuba player. There were multiple years where Brandon had the entire top all-state band euphonium section to come from his studio. He is often asked to come back to Kentucky high schools for his knowledge and teaching abilities. Brandon first became known as the youngest finalist ever in the ITEC artist euphonium level competition in Lahti, Finland in 2001. Brandon was a freshman in college at that time. He finished 3 rd in the world in the competition and made headlines all throughout the state of Kentucky, and the country in the euphonium world. The next year, he made the finals again, this time as a 20-year-old. Later that year, Brandon competed in a competition held by the Brass Band of Battle Creek (arguably the worlds’ finest brass band) where he would be declared the winner, and was featured as a soloist at the week-ending concert. As a soloist and clinician, Brandon is second to none. His wealth of experience and keen musical sense separates him from his peers. He performs full-time as principal and solo euphonium with the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Band out of Crossville, TN. His debut solo CD, “Influences” was received with international acclaim, and was a top-three finalist for the prestigious ITEA Roger Bobo Award for recording excellence. This was Brandon’s first CD, and he was only 27-years-old when it was recorded. This is the highest award for a solo CD that the International Tuba Euphonium Association can give. Brandon has performed all over the world, including Russia, Finland, and Mexico. Reviews of his CD as well as of Brandon in general can be found on his professional website, www.brandonmjones.com. Brandon has a deep passion for teaching students of all ages to help them not only achieve their absolute highest potential as a musician, but also as a student and person. It is about the students, and giving them the absolute best opportunity to succeed at the highest of levels. Brandon’s students go on to receive the highest scholarship amounts for collegiate study as well as several accolades outside of the classroom. His students have held principal chairs at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Louisiana State University, Cleveland Institute of Music, University of Louisville, Murray State University, and Western Kentucky University, among several others. Brandon has also had a student to win the student division of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Competition. He has had successful students on every brass instrument in both Kentucky and Tennessee. Brandon consistently has 3+ students selected to the Governor’s School for the Arts program, and has had several students selected to the mid-state and all-state bands in a short amount of time.
